The project I've decided to do is a magazine (잡지). The magazine will focus on the current music scene in Korea. The musical genres will include: Pop, Hip-Hop, Rock, R&B, Soul.

I chose to do a Korean music magazine because I'm interested in Korean music. Also in Montreal it's been impossible to find one so I figured I'll make the magazine of my dreams. Another reason for creating a music magazine for my IA project is that the reason I decided to attend Dawson College was to work in with music videos. Since I started studying at Dawson I’ve lost interest in production and my interest in music has grown enormously.

The target audience will be teenagers to i guess people in their late 20's. But it will also be for people who just want to catch up on Korean music.

I don't have a title for the magazine yet but I'm thinking about it. I’ve narrowed it down to two titles:

"Aja Aja!" A popular Korean Saying

"Hanuel Wiro" (하늘위로) A Popular lyric in Korean songs meaning "Above the sky" or "To the sky"

(에프티 아일랜드)Ft. Island

This magazine will be printed to look like a real laminated magazine. I'm not sure about the length of the magazine but I do know what I'm going to include:
Top 10 artist that changed to sounds of Korean music
An article on the cover artist
What ever happened to?
Next

Debuting in the U.S.
New Cd's

I've decided to included a CD of the latest Korean Music. The CD will be collaboration of the artist featured in the magazine. The CD will be in a little pocket on the last page of the magazine.

Required materials:

Microsoft word
Photoshop

This project will basically be created on word document and the images will be created in photoshop. I don’t have photoshop at home but I can use the cincom labs.

Schedule:

October 3^rd – November 14^th: writing articles

October 17^th – November 14^th: Creating advertisements

November 14^th – November 21^st: Finishing up

We received a basic understanding of the evolution of film in not only Hollywood but in Europe as well.

My final project was to create a propaganda film. I created a propaganda film for North Korea using Barbies. Unfortunatly after I handed in my project my computer erased and I was unable to save my project. The video was mostly consister of Kim Jong-il's face on everything you can imagine, bilboards, Mc Donalds, t-shirts even tires.

We had the chance to watch several movies targeted towards youth.

We also read literature about the positive and negative views of youth.

We read short stories about youth, by youths and explaining the youths.

We also learned about the way the youth generation is being fed to big corporations

We also learned how to translate the messages in the media

We had the chance to pick any video we wanted an anylize it. We had to point of certain things about the music video, the genre, who it's target audience was and several other things.

I chose the song: Let me hold you by Bow wow & Omarion

I pointed out that in real life both artist are very short but in this video they're the same size as everyone else.

We learned how to write a script for film, television show or a short film.
We also gained the knowledge to expand our vocabulary for the different types of situation happening in our scripts.

During this class the main objective was to create a script for a television show or short film. I chose to do a television show entitled "Cree" a twenty five page script.

How will this help my final project: I'll be able to write for an audience.

My final project on explaining to the class about beauty ideas in South Asia

My partner and I decided to talk about the idea that in that culture being white was a blessing. We spoke about skin whitening creams and showed commercials.

How will this help my final project: I'll be able to write in a broader perspective.

Music

Music II (Composition) (Intro to Guitar) 70

This class was an introduction to acquiring the skills to play the acoustic guitar.

We learned the basics of playing a guitar and also a few songs popular songs.

We also learned how to read guitar notes, perform scales and tune our guitars.

Some of the songs we learned include: Wild World and Heart of Gold

How will this help my final project: It gave me an understanding of how hard playing music is.

Music History 77

We learned the history of different types of music.

Those types include: Jazz, Blues, Classical

We learned how to read musical notes. We also attended musical concerts at Mcgill.

How will this help my final project: during this class I've learned how to tell the difference between music genres.

Health and Physical Ed. 89 (Dance)

We learned different dance styles such as: The Cha-cha, The Waltz and many others.

We also had the chance to listen to music from all over the world during while we were experiencing the new dance styles.

How will this help my final project: This class exposed us to different types of music.
